This quilt (and another one almost exactly like it) came about through a friend who knew an elderly woman in a nursing home. The woman had begun piecing a couple of quilts but was no longer able to sew due to declining health. Her son (about 70 years old himself) needed someone to finish the quilts. I took on the project, discovering that most of the pieces had already been cut, and one of the two quilt tops had almost been completed. So, I finished that one, then pieced the other one. Chantal Cox of Spokane Valley machine-quilted them both. Sadly, the woman passed away before we could get the quilts back to her. Her son paid us for the work anyway, saying he wanted one quilt for himself and one for his daughter.
