Diane's Friendship quilt

Diane's Friendship quilt

In the spring of 2007, Ken Hein, pastor of Starr Road Baptist Church in Otis Orchards, Washington, resigned from the church to move east. He now pastors Fellowship Baptist Church in Nashville, Indiana. A few months before the move, one of the church members approached me and asked if I'd put a quilt together for Ken's wife, Diane, gathering signatures from as many women as possible. I began at once, stealthily distributing rectangles of muslin, along with instructions about type of pen to use. I even sent a few signature blocks to people who'd moved away. Some women added Bible verses or other sentiments to their blocks, while a few simply signed their names. Each block was sewn into the quilt, using Diane's favorite pastel colors. The quilt is full size, and it's expertly machine-quilted by Chantal Cox of Spokane Valley, Washington.
