More than 130 signatures adorn the Family Reunion quilt, which I pieced over a period of four years. My family, the McHaneys, are from the Leachville, Arkansas, area, and each July we gather for a reunion. I collected signatures at three consecutive reunions, spending the winter months embroidering the names onto fabric. After I pieced the quilt, friends in my bee helped with the quilting, and I took it to the next reunion. We stretched a clothesline between two trees in the front yard, and everyone enjoyed looking at it. The local newspaper even sent a photographer to take a few shots and write an article about it.
