Paper-pieced Stars

Paper-pieced Stars

During the summer of 2003, my niece, Lynn Oberlin Ogburn of St.
Petersburn, Florida, was diagnosed with a rapidly-spreading cancer.  She passed away only a few weeks later.  During her brief illness, I was coincidentally trying out a new paper-piecing pattern--this star.  I decided to let the stars become a memory quilt in Lynn's honor, so I asked family members to sign pieces for the border.  Soon I had signatures on muslin from Michigan, Arkansas, Indiana and elsewhere.  I hand-quilted this project in record time and mailed it to Lynn's parents (my big sis Jean and her husband Jerry).  It was pieced and quilted in loving memory of Lynn, 1964-2003.
